Pilates is a gentle, yet fast and effective way to tone, strengthen and elongate the muscles for a stronger, more flexible body.
Joe Pilates once said, “If your spine is stiff at 30, you are old. If it is flexible at 60, you are young".
Pilates in named for it's creator, Joseph Hubertus Pilates who called his work "Controlology", the comprehensive integration of body, mind and spirit.
"A man is as young as his spinal column".
Joseph Pilates was born in Monchengladbach Germany in 1883. He was a sickly child and became determined to change through exercise after becoming enamored by the Greek ideal of balanced body, mind and Spirit. At the outbreak of WWI, Joe was interned as an enemy alien with other German nationals. It was during this time that he rigged springs to the hospital beds of bedridden internees to help with their rehab, therefore creating the equipment that we use today. After the war, he returned to Germany and was asked to train German soldiers. He refused and fled to America where he began training dancers in NYC. Joe passed away in 1967 but his wife continued to teach for another 10 years until she passed away and his students continued to teach after that and have made Pilates popular around the world.
I began teaching in 2014 after trying Pilates and falling in love with it and what it did for my body. I had tried everything but didn’t stick to it, because it was either boring or I would do something incorrectly and end up with an injury, but this just felt right. I had been trying to recover from a tennis injury for over a year and all the PT just seemed to give me temporary relief. After only 3 months of Pilates, the pain was gone and has never returned. Three months after starting, my friends were commenting on how different I looked and this is when I knew that I wanted to pursue teaching. I wanted everyone to feel the way I did. I continue to see the rewards in my clients who come to me with back issues and other aches and pains and together, we work through them and help them feel whole again.
During the first session we will discuss your fitness goals and go over the fundamentals of Pilates discussing and learning the terminology and techniques.
We will continue to expand on these skills with each session. It is ideal to do 1-3 50 minute sessions per week as well as working it into your daily routine at home for just 10-15 minutes a day for the quickest results.

As a dedicated runner with degenerative disc disease, I have had my share of back issues over the years. I’ve tried yoga and Crossfit, but didn’t see the results I’d hoped for. I spent a year visiting a chiropractor, 1-2 times a week, but I still had back issues, and even developed some chronic shoulder pain. I felt like I was treating the symptoms, but not correcting the cause of the problem. I was also starting to see the inevitable posture issues that accompany age (I’m 61).
I decided to give Pilates a try. Finally, I had found the answer! My shoulder pain is gone, my posture is great and I’ve even found a waistline. I’m still running and have been able to run a few marathons and several half-marathons to my credit. Still getting older, but thankfully without most of the aches and pains. Thank you Christine!

I’m asked all of the time how I stay in such great shape. In just two years, Christine has helped me totally transform my body. Her expert Pilates instruction has helped me build strength, toning my core and increasing my flexibility — all translating to improved performance on the tennis court without injury.

After having my second baby, my abdominal muscles were stretched out significantly. Desperate to feel better, I tried one session with Christine and I was hooked! She is really skilled at tailoring the workout to your own personal style, and she helped me learn the correct technique so that I was strengthening the right muscles. Christine is so knowledgeable and has a passion for helping you reach your goals. She is supportive and makes working out fun. My core feels stronger than it did before I had my babies, and I am more confident and have more energy since beginning sessions with Christine

In July 2023, I was diagnosed with osteoporosis. I walk daily and eat healthy, so I was quite surprised by the diagnosis. I started looking for gentle, but effective, ways to exercise to increase my muscle tone and improve my bone health. Additionally, over the past 2.5 years, I had some sciatica flare ups and was generally achy in my hips and lower back on a daily basis. I am not a natural athlete and my coordination is not so great, but I decided to give Pilates a try and was fortunate enough to start working with Christine. Within 3 sessions (plus some homework), I noticed a very positive change in my hips and lower back. My start to the day was quickly improving as I was able to get out of bed feeling pretty good, not stiff and achy. I was absolutely amazed that I was feeling so good so quickly.
Christine made me feel comfortable at the very first session. She is VERY knowledgeable and with every session I am learning more about my body. Christine is an AWESOME teacher/instructor and she genuinely cares about helping her clients succeed and, in my case, get stronger and age gracefully. I just finished my 18th session today and I am so grateful and happy with all the positive improvements in my physical health. I love how my body is changing. It feels awesome to feel good! Thank you, Christine! I am so grateful for your guidance and support in helping me reach my goals.
